Tickets now on sale for Utopia, Limited

27th to 28th February 2026 at The Leatherhead Theatre

King Paramount, the autocratic ruler of the South Sea island of Utopia, has sent his daughter, Princess Zara, to England to learn about English ways and customs, with the intention of modernising Utopia. She returns with six “Flowers of Progress” (who represent the Great & Good of England) to explain English culture and institutions. One of the Flowers is a company promoter, who suggests to the King that Utopia become a limited company. The King agrees, with hilarious and unforeseen results…
Written in 1893, Utopia, Limited was Gilbert and Sullivan’s penultimate collaboration in which Gilbert satirises almost every English institution. It is accompanied by some of Sullivan’s finest music with colourful sets and costumes. The fully staged and costumed production will be directed by Duncan Hamilton. Our large professional orchestra will be conducted by Musical Director Dick Stockton.
Godalming Operatic Society has just passed its centenary and remains one of the few societies devoted primarily to G&S. As well as many previous awards, the Society has won the NODA South East award for “Best Savoy Opera” for the last two years.
