Will you consider becoming a Patron of the Society?
Godalming Operatic Society is one of the few remaining companies still dedicated to producing all the Savoy Operas, from popular works including The Mikado and The Pirates of Penzance to less well known works such as The Grand Duke and Utopia Limited.
Unlike many other societies, we use a full 22+ piece professional orchestra and do not use microphones or amplification. We are a “not for profit” charity, dedicated to preserving the works of Gilbert & Sullivan and passing them on to the next generation. In recent years our Godalming performances have sold out before the opening night. Our Leatherhead performances also attracting large audiences from East Surrey.
In recent years we have been invited to present productions at festivals in Buxton and Waterford and we were awarded a NODA Accolade of Excellence for our production of Patience in February 2011. We were awarded the NODA trophy for “Best G&S production in the South East Region” for our 2014 production of Princess Ida. To present productions of a high standard is very costly and we greatly value the support given by our Patrons. In return for a minimum donation of £30 you will be entitled to:
- Priority booking for up to six tickets for the Society’s annual production and for any public concert given during the year, up to one month before public booking opens.
- Three newsletters per year, sent via email, to keep you up to date with our progress and any social events or outings you may wish to attend.
- The names of all Patrons will be printed in the programme for our annual production, unless you wish to remain anonymous.
- The Patrons’ priority booking period for our next show ‘Pirates’ continues until 15th December.
To join as a Patron (and benefit from priority booking), please contact our Patrons Secretary, on 01252 703376 or email box-office@godalmingoperatic.org.
